Flamed Finish Paving Slabs

As the name suggests, a Flamed finish paving is achieved by running a high-temperature flame across the surface of the stone. This creates a thermal shock that causes the inherent crystals in the stone to fracture, producing a very appealing rippled texture.

This process is most common in granite products in order to improve slip-resistance for use around swimming pools for instance, but other materials such as sandstone benefit from this process also.

Flamed paving slabs are a unique and stylish option for outdoor paving and patio designs. These slabs feature a textured surface that is created through a process called flaming. The result is a rippled, natural-looking surface that is both beautiful and practical with a superb slip-resistance thanks to the rough texture the process creates.

The flaming process involves heating the surface of the paving slab to extremely high temperatures, typically performed using a propane torch, which is moved back and forth over the surface of the slab until the desired texture is achieved. The heat from the flames causes the surface of the stone to soften and burn, leaving behind a textured surface.

This texture not only gives the paving slabs a unique appearance, but it also provides a slip-resistant surface that is ideal for outdoor areas. This makes flamed paving slabs an excellent choice for patios, walkways, and other outdoor living spaces, especially in areas where rain and snow are common.
